Exhebition: Akademie der Künste
Opening – 16.01.2013 18:00 – Akdademie der Künste Berlin
It is not only a widespread feeling, it is a fact. There is an awful lot going wrong in this world of ours. Reason enough to point out our global problems with everything we can muster, to confront citizens as participants of public life with images beyond the boundaries of our daily world of consumerism and advertising. And to do that with a high set of standards in a time in which all too many have lost or given up their abilities to qualify and criticise. It is all about never giving up to find a new vantage point from which viewers can reevaluate their own position with regard to recognising and removing injustice.
The exhibition shows the outcome of the last three years of the poster competition «Mut zur Wut». While in 2010 designers were specifically invited to present their works on the streets of Heidelberg, the decision was made last year to offer an open competition. From this pool of contributions an international jury now selects the 30 most expressive pieces, which are then produced and presented in public spaces. In 2012, 1475 designs from 52 countries were sent in.
Many participants, however, do not leave it at simply having the courage to rage, they actively call for the removal of those conditions which need to be changed.
